Baroque Music Concert at Rundale Palace
Rundale Palace is a pearl of Baroque architecture in Latvia, standing proud in its original splendour in a fertile plain surrounded by forests. It is Latvia’s version of Versailles and Sans Soucis. The palace was built between 1736 and 1767 in the western part of Latvia for one of the Dukes of Kurzeme (Courland). The architect of the palace is the Italian F. B. Rastrelli (the Russian court architect) who has also created St. Petersburg’s finest buildings. Today this place is subtly restored. It is the most significant masterpiece of Baroque architecture in the Baltic States.
After an 1 hour’s tour of the palace the guests will enjoy a Baroque music concert in the White Hall of the palace. With its luxurious nobility and spacious rooms the Palace is a most suitable place for ceremonial receptions, banquets, balls and gala dinners. The guests will be welcomed by a glass of champagne and waiters, dressed in Baroque costumes. You will learn some dancing pas and basics of the etiquette of the Baroque times. After the tour and the Baroque music concert a festive dinner will be served in the restaurant (a former kitchen of the palace).
